Welcome to BYC! Your girls sound so amazing! Snow already??? WOW! In CT its cold but not that cold.Just got 8 Bovan hens this spring, and they are currently laying 3-4 eggs a day. Not sure why we aren't getting more eggs, but they all seem happy and healthy. Very friendly and talkative gals! I have had RI reds once before, many years ago, in a much warmer climate, so interested in learning all I can to keep my hens happy and healthy. Living in 100 Mile House, BC area, and have snow already!

Generally birds slow or completely stop laying in the fall, molting occurs, birds recuperate their reserves from a summer of laying. Sudden changes in weather will stop the egg laying. Stop by this article for more help...
