New chick has a protrusion on vent

One of my chicks that hatched today has a sac of sorts on the outside. The insides may not have grown right. The area around it looks semi transparent... Has anyone has this issue? I can't get a good pic, it's still in the incubator....this chic probably won't make it, right?

When you remove the chick from the incubator, check to see if it is an umbilical stump or a sac around the vent.

I snagged a picture of it. It looks more like a bulge. The cord was laying elsewhere

I wouldnt mess with it. It might dry up, shrivel and fall off on its own. As long as the chick eats, drinks and poops normally...everything should be fine. Watch for possible picking by other chicks though.

Thanks! It seems to be pooping ok, I will get it out later tonight and see if it will eat or drink. I appreciate the advice!

I had a chick once that had an even more prominent bulge than that. I left it alone, made sure other chicks weren't pecking at it, and it dried and fell off on its own after a week or so.

Thanks for all the advice! The lil guy didn't make it. He wouldn't eat and I had to force him to drink. It happens I guess, still sad.
