Made a thred yesterday on my new chicks. Bought 4 americauna and 1 mixed breed from the consensus here. One of the americauna chicks had a massive case of pasty butt and this morning she had the classic symptoms of recovering from coccidia, (no runny stool but clumpy red bits implying lesion shedding after infection) they're on a medicated starter but I added coried to err on the side of caution as she was still a bit lethargic. My question is, should I add a probiotic after treatment for any additional gut discomfort? All chicks are active so I dont believe the infection is serious.

Can you please post some photos of the chick, the brooder and her poop?
What is the temperature in your brooder.
How old is she?

In case you need it. Liquid Corid dose is 2 tsp or Powdered Corid dose is 1 1/2 tsp per gallon of water. Give for 5-7 days as the only source of drinking water. Don't add anything else to the water besides the Corid.

If she's got pasty butt, then check the temps of your brooder. Be gentle, but clean the poop off her butt, if you need to wash her butt, then dry her well with a hair dryer before she goes back in the brooder. A chilled chick will go down hill fast.

You can offer a probiotic if you wish after you finish the course of treatment.
