Hey everyone!

I am 18 years old and I live in a pretty rural part of Minnesota. My boyfriend and I have been wanting to hatch chicks and then sell them to local farms for a while. We plan on getting stated soon. We would sell them because under the city ordinance, roosters are not allowed.I have a decently big back yard and its fenced in. We are looking on buying fertilized eggs then hatching them at home.

If anyone has any advice on where to get the eggs, places I can sell the chicks, or anything else don't be afraid to message me or reply here!

Thanks.

Greetings from Kansas and :welcome. Happy you joined us. A good place to start would be in your state thread which you can locate here https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you A local may be able to advise you. And here is a link to the hatching eggs for sale forum https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/36/chicken-hatching-eggs where you may be able to locate some. A word of caution...eggs through the mail carry a relatively low hatch success rate.
Here is also the link to the incubating and hatching forum should you need hatching advice https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/5/incubating-hatching-eggs
I wish you well in your venture!

You would also need to research what breeds farmers would want. There is also a good chance they raise their own chicks and would not be interested in paying for others.

In some states there may be laws about selling them to others if your facility hasn't been inspected.
