I want to carry on my grandad's legacy. When I was little, my grandpa kept chickens in our city. I don't have anything but a tiny city lot. Does anyone else live in Rochester, NY and are keeping chickens?

BYC is great for meeting people who are knowledgeable about chickens, but for a more local/regional social, you might want to check out Facebook.

Definitely agree on the bantams. They come in a lot of variety, and can be kept in a rather smaller space. The rooster in my profile picture is an OEG bantam. They're awesome.

Yup, my grandpa had 3 or 4 bantam hens and a rooster. That little rooster would come after me when I had to pass the coop to get into the house. And he would sit on my swing and crow his little lungs out. I was all of 5 years old and was afraid of him.
