New Chick in Town

Hi everyone!

I'm new to raising chickens and have 10 barred rock chicks coming next week. We're starting out with just hens for eggs but may add in a rooster later. As much as I have read I'm still feeling a bit nervous about raising chicks. The chicken coop is in the process of being setup (it is big, 10x10 with 6 nesting boxes and insulated floor- we live in the mountains) and I've started getting supplies. I'm looking forward to being part of the community and reading through all the knowledge everyone has put out.

Welcome to Backyard Chickens only thing use hardware cloth not chicken wire .. Predators can reach through chicken wire

A 10 x 10 coop can house 28 birds on the high end so you're never going to need more than 4 nest boxes.
