In the Brooder
Hi, my name is Cathy I live in Vancleave MS we have lived here for 2 years. We bought and split almost 3 acers of land with my brother and SIL. Hubby and I cleared an acer and built our forever home. I have always wanted to live in the country, and I love the peace and quiet, the no streetlight the reaching out and touching nothing I love it. My brother and sister-in-law built on the remaining property which is close but not close. At the end of last year, we bought up the property behind both homes to make sure nobody could build there. But enough about us. My sister-in-law and I became moms to 15 now 2-week-old chicks on Sunday 3/6 breed unknown. They are staying in a large cage with light in my garage until Mother Nature decides to be nice. Of the 4 of us I am retired so get to stay home and so I get to take care of the babies. I am slowly recovering from 2 major back surgeries that took place in Sept, so these babies keep me busy instead of just sitting around. I have1 cat named Bella Mia who is Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde she is around 12 years old, hobbies that I have are sewing, reading, cooking, gardening, and TV. My bonus daughter told me about Back Yard Chicken many years ago, but due to health I had decided that Chickens were not in my future, but sometimes God has different plans for us. Fast forward to now we have chickens and when I was asking her questions, she told me to go to BYC anything you want to know will be on there. She raised a few 100 chicken and when she started with them y’all were there to guide her along her journey and I hope that I will have the same success as she had. I have been terrified and was up every 2 hours the first 2 night we had them. Checking temp, water, food etc. It just amazes me how they are growing. I can’t wait to be able to let them play in the yard on warm days, to introduce them to their coop, to get them to come to us when we call them. God knew just what I needed. Hubby is just happy they will eat bugs.
