Our White Leghorn just hatched out a new chick today. This is her second time at being a mom - first time was this March. Funny thing is, this egg was from her and the father was a Rhode Island Red, but the chick is black LOL! Her last chick from the same daddy was all white like her. The only other possible daddy is a gold colored banty roo. Hahaha, she has a shocked look on her face too!

Aw, and what I sweet little mystery chick. I thought my Leghorn was going broody again, but she changed her mind. I do wonder how on earth she got a black chick from either possible daddy?.....

She's the only hen that lays white eggs (that I know of)! Unless one of the 2 silver-laced wyandottes have started laying without our knowledge! I really doubt it. Should be fun to see how this chick ends up looking.

I laughed so hard when I actually looked at the pic! She does look dumbfounded!!!!

Adorable picture! I love the look on her face - it does look shocked!

SLW lay brown eggs, btw. So it must be hers...

Good thing is, she is defending that one baby with her life! I went out to check on her and she pulled some painful ninja moves on me and left a 4 inch long scratch down my arm. She is a good mama!
