(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

Kind of...we had some on our farm when I was little but I didn't do much with them. I just got my first chicks last night!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

We purchased 10 chicks!

(3) What breeds do you have?

Sex Link, Amber Link, Rhode Island Red

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

A friend told me about the site

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Photography, Reading

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I am the mom to one awesome little guy and have been married to my husband for 12 years. We have 4 dogs - Yorkie (Sassie), Jack Russell (Theo), Stafforshire Terrier/Pit (Dixie), and a Pit Mix (Marco) - and one cat (Midas). All of our animals are rescues and part of the family! We are very excited about this new journey with our chickens - I am trying to help my 11 year old son learn about responsibility and also keep him interested in the farm.

Welcome & Congratulations!

As you have already received links to some good starting points, I will just wish you all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
