New Chick owner question about food

If your buying feed in 50 pound bags then buying locally is definitely the best way to do it. Amazon and other online places are great for many things, but big heavy bags of feed that are sensitive to getting wet and spoiling make shipping an expensive problem.

I'm lucky to have 7 feed stores within driving distance so selection is very good. Prices are decent, I see cheaper deals for people that live where the grain is grown, but its CA so what can you do. Our liberal local government makes doing business here expensive so it is what it is.

I have two options for feed. A TRACTOR SUPPLY STORE and a Mom and Pop feed store owned and ran by local folks.
I prefer to buy local as then the money stays local and helps our economy. Also, there feed comes in 50 lb bags for the same price as TSC's 40 lb bags.
The local feed store Always has a fella to cart it out and put it in my truck. They will order anything they dont have for me.
I like the small town feel and atmosphere and would be very sad if they closed.
I will go to tractor supply ocasionally because they are open later and sometimes run special sales and clearences.

Buying online will generally cost more due to shipping costs.

I just shop at my local feed store, it's a pleasant place to visit and only a couple miles away and the employees will carry the bags out to the car.
