Hi all! Glad to join the site and start our first set of 9 chicks! We planned on 6, but ended up with 8 Buff Orpington and 1 “freebie” pullet, which the hatchery told us is an Ayam Cemani but came out spotted rather than the desired black color. My husband is finishing up building our coop which will have 24 sq feet of floor space (not including the 3 laying boxes) and we plan to have a large run about 100 sq ft. Hopefully we have enough space for all of these hens! We got a couple extra to account for any losses, but all of them seem to be settling into their new brooding box nicely!
