Let the peepin' begin! Got the call from my feed store, turned on the heat lamp and headed off to get my chicks. 8 Buff Orpingtons, 8 Silver Laced Wyandottes. The BOs because they have such a great repuation as friendly birds, and the Silver Laced, because in my chicken dreams, all chickens should be black and white speckles!!
They stayed huddled under the lamp for about 10 minutes, then discovered the food and water. Everyone seems to be fine.
For those obsessively interested - I have a bottom layer of shavings and DE, and for the first week am using some leftover puppy pee pads my pup did not need.
