Uh... I think the more well term is tractor or mobile coops.

I'm doing 2 or 3 coops at 8x4x4. They're going to be on larger 15in wheels (maybe bigger) to avoid the common issue that mobile coops tend to have.

The smaller coops will help me move them to fresh vegetation and bugs, and keeping them from turning one area into a dust bowl and mud pit.

(shrug) I clean up their mess, and the carpet is getting ripped out. I don't see the issue.

Hell, I work in a factory with so much dust that you begin breathing differently upon entering the building. I used to work in a tobacco processing plant. That smell stayed in my clothes for months.

These chickens are clean compared to the places I've work. I'm not going to worry about the ammonia when they have an open window or two for 24/7. It's not ideal, but it works.

Micro coops are tractor coops, but they're not hugging the ground. They're small and mobile but higher up off the ground. It's a permaculture thingy. Justin Rhodes' chickshaw would be a good example.

When I said it would get into the subflooring, I wasn't just referring to the ammonia build up, it can cause mold also. That will devalue your home, as well as having a bad effect on the occupants health. A drop cloth might help, if you can't get them out of the house right now.
Do you have a large property? Otherwise, it will be more practice to build a walk in coop.
