New chick with a funny looking vent

So I hatched out some BO's and one of the smallest ones has a vent that is red and puffy. It just looks really irritated. Is this a chicken version of hemrioids? Thank you

Sometimes they can get irritated and swollen back there and start to prolapse a bit. Just keep the area clean and apply some antibiotic ointment (NOT the kind with pain killers because it is poison for chickens) to head off infection. If it is really swollen you can also use regular preparation H (non-pain relief version) to help reduce the swelling and help things go back where they should.


Oh, and keep an eye out to make sure the other chicks are not pecking at the one with the puffy butt. Sometimes they do that and they can really do some damage.

Great thank you so much! So it is kinda like chicken hemorriods! Good nothing serious! Thanks for the advise on not using pain antibiotic ointment, I didn't know that it was poisionus. Wow we really need spell check on here! Sorry I can't spell!
