My bantam cochin first time mom hatched baby #2, but the chicks head is bare and looks like dried blood. Could this be from the egg while hatching?? It is moving around and peeping, but I'm very concerned.

Does it look like skin or like the skull cap is missing? It could be exposed brain if the latter is the case.Okay I just had a chick hatch with the same patch. Did you find out what it was at all?

That lump off to the side reminds me of some of the more exposed brains I've seen on here.
