chick boot. To make a chick boot, have the chick stand on an old credit card or some other similar rigidity plastic. trace around both feet, but not each individual toe, of a naturaly standing healthy chick. Then, cut out the circle. Once you're done, then comes the tricky part... You have to make the chick stand on the circle, fix his feet, and then tape the ENTIRE foot to the circle in the most natural position you can make it in. start with the healthy foot first (or healthiest foot if both are splayed) secure the toes in the proper position and tape or bandaid the foot to the plastic. then bring the second foot into position and secure it as well. we have used hair elastics as well for chicks who have no trouble with the toes but the legs ar spread apart. this is a more natural fix because it allows the legs too move in a scissor fasion more normaly but holds the legs together so that the chick is upright.
They will spend a little time on their back initially while adjusting to whatever device you use but a strong chick will overcome and learn to adapt in a short time.
look up chick boot on some other threads and maybe they will explain it better, I have no photo's
It is always an afterthought and too late when I think of the camera, the focus is on fixing the chick first and then documenting, oh well. good luck.
