I recently decided to get a rooster chick to eventually breed with an adult hen I have. I have a brooder box set up for him. Every time I come into the room I have him in he starts trying to get out of the brooder. I got him out tonight and he has been sitting in my lap since then, it’s been 30 minutes. Is this normal? Thanks for all the help

Is he the only chick in the brooder? He might be lonely because he has no friends, and it will be bad when you introduce him to the existing flock, he will get pecked on and not have any failure faces to run to, I would get at least two more chicks and raise them with him

I gave all but one of my flock away, so I only have a female. I am wanting to try and hatch some doodles
