Hey everyone, im Howard. I have three baby chicks, im in the process now of trying to construct a coop and run for them. I have a idea, but im really just going off of what ive been reading. Any tips would be great.

Have you visited the coops section, they have many styles and sizes. If you plain to stay small ( 2 chickens) you may be interested in the chicken tractors.

Hi, welcome to BYC!

Some of the things we discovered were important to us in a coop are:
* Make it easy to clean
* Make it tall enough for you to stand up in
* Allow room for a waterer and feeder
* Make it as invasion proof as possible to keep predators out
* Allow for a lot of ventilation
* Make it roomy for the birds, the bigger the better
* Run electricity to your coop for lights, fan, etc.

Also, at some point you may need to quarantine a bird so figure where they are going to go. Quarantine is important when you add new birds or have a sick or injured chicken.

Good luck to you!

glad you have joined us and congrats on getting your own flock.

You have already been given the best advice by NorthFLChick.

But I would emphasize the build larger than the minimum recommendations, so much easier than having to expand the coop later.

Good luck with all.
