It all started when we moved to my dream property four years ago...I bugged hubby for two years to build me a coop...He finally rolled his eyes and realized I wouldn't shut up until he did...So he very slowly began a two year project of a coop...In his defense...he is an electrician and not an carpenter...So here we are four years later....

I started my flock April 4, 2015...I had no idea how crazy addicting these little things would be. I find myself even cocking my head to the side and looking at people like a crazed chicken at times...

I love how the answer to just about any question can be answered with: Because Chickens....

I love to knit, crochet and paint (and whatever else strikes my fancy)....and I now incorporate my chickens into all my projects...

So I made myself a Halloween Costume for this year-truly fitting for where I am in my life...

Here is me playing with my chickens and yarn....

I have silently lurked the forums without 'officially' becoming a member for a long time-even before I had chickens...I thought it was high time I make it official...I might as well come out of the chicken closet.

Welcome to the BYC flock! We are glad you decided to join us!

Great costume by the way! You are certainly very creative!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I'm glad your hubby decided to build you a coop, and I love your photos. Thanks for posting them. A lot of us were lurkers before joining, all of us here at BYC have OCD (Obsessive Chicken Disorder), and very few of us are immune to "chicken math.") If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is loads of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

haha! I am a victim of chicken math..I'm already planning ahead..I want twelve more hens...since I'm ordering them as eggs I have to plan for 50/50...but I have bad luck..so I have to make it 20/80...Plus, they might not all hatch...so really I need to order 73....that makes sense, right?

Thank you! :) That costume was a major accomplishment in my life since I HATE sewing haha! I wrote a blog about the adventure (in case I ever wanted to recreate what I did)...

That's perfect sense. You get an A+ in chicken math.)
