(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I got my first chickens around March this year. I’ve been greatly helped by articles on this site. Thought I should introduce myself because I have so many questions
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
16 chickens and 4 ducks
(3) What breeds do you have?
2 cute Polish that I hope are hens???? 2 golden speckled Wyandotte roosters two RI red hens 2 black Asian hens, 2 Sicilian buttercups, a pair. 1 white hen lol and 1 white leghorn rooster Not sure on the spellings. Oh and 4 bantam crazy silkie roosters I have ended up with 7 roosters, woah is me!!! I have started a bachelor pad on one part of my property. I have no neighbors that can complain thank goodness! Always looking for help in the rooster department. So far none are aggressive unless I’m not wearing my green wellies
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I’m loving the eggs and love watching my birds
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I just bought a small farm with 8 acres so I’m enjoying gardening, sewing baking and learning new skills and hobbies. I love to volunteer with rescue animals and foster.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I’m originally from England but lived in the states 19 years. Recently divorced and starting a new life for myself. I have 3 adult kids. My oldest daughter and her boyfriend live with me and help me out tremendously! I recently moved to Virginia from California. I also have 4 dogs and 4 cats and take care of 3 horses.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
