i am starting construction on my new chicken house and run and was wondering what everyones opinion was on composting and which is better i had origianally designed my chicken run to be the composter so that the chickens are constantly turning it, but i see mostly hot compost pictures should i just build a hot composter and not let the chickens peck through it? does anyone have a hot composter and how do they like it?

My runs usually become very compacted. We add cut grass in the summer and sand in the winter (when the grass slows down).
