New Chicken-er in PA

Just starting out with chickens in South Central PA. A friend gave me a few Japanese Phoenix roosters along with some possibly mixed breed hens and roosters. I'm hoping to reduce the bug population on my small farmette as well as enjoy some fresh eggs! I'm especially interested in the Brahma chicken breed and other exotic-type that are either big, or semi aggressive to ward off my nosy, but harmless dogs.

Really there aren't many dogs that are harmless. Even if they just circle a run and bark at the birds they can stress them enough to cause their death

Hello, I’m new to the forum also. We lived in central PA for about 8 years before we moved to TN. I don’t have chickens yet, but I’m interested in Brahmas too, among other breeds.
