It started out as a middle school science project. I was presented with a form to sign that said I would allow my son to bring home two chicks and that I had suitable home for them. We had just taken apart and old playground and thought How hard could it be? Well we needed a little of help building the coop and luckily grandpa was up to the task. The science class chicks never hatched and we got four chicks hoping two would be hens. 8 weeks later we brought back four roosters and got four sexed chicks. There was a scissor beak, a daytime bobcat attack, a junky tractor supply coop, a new batch of chicks, a pullet that looks kinda rooish and then finally...The first egg! We currently have 5 chickens. Two 6 month old hens, the Australorp looking one is laying, the scissor beak Brahma is not. and 3 two month old chicks. Rir rooster, buff orpington hen and black/red EE hen. We've learned a lot and are having fun. The birds are such a joy for the whole family, their little antics, personalities and chicken drama make for fun times.

to have you join the family. Enjoy your time here at BYC!
