Thank You!In addition to the carpentry projects, I'm proud to say I converted Phil from being not much of a friend to Mother Earth, to putting every little tomato top, not so perfect lettuce, from his salads in a container for our chickens. He's just as happy as I am to recycle everything we possibly can.
The horses are actually so easy to take care of you wouldn't believe it. I look out the window in the morning and do a head count, then take care of the poultry. At some point during the day we ride down in the golf cart and check the water tubs (4) and refill any needed, take a pump sprayer full of fly spray and squirt any that look like they need it. Occasionally re-put on a fly mask. We feed grain about every three days, there are buckets lined up on the fence and they all get along.
My dragonflies came back this week so the flyspray is no longer needed. I have a big swarm of them in the field that grab the flys.
I trim their hooves myself with nippers and an electric grinder (instead of a file) about every 6-8 weeks, do my own shots, worming.
I have a friend where it is a huge production with her Arabian horses and I think you were wise to run the other direction!!!!
Phil loves them as much as I do and I think he thinks I should spend less time with the chickens and more time with them. Yesterday I pulled up my young stud Czar Shaklan (Shaklan Bey x Salons Tara) and spent a few hours with him. I trimmed him, gave him a bath, wormed him. braided his mane and tail. He's 3 1/2 now and SUCH a nice young man, I told him he could stay a stallion as long as he continued to be such a nice boy.
Anyway, he helped me with this last project and pretty much every project. We work really well together. I know I am so lucky to have someone that tolerates me- trust me!!!!!
