Welcome! I have found that a rooster is nice to have around. I have my laying hens in the coop and a couple of bachelor roosters outside free ranging. They watch out for predators, eat bugs and stay close because of the hens.

What about introducing a 16 week white leg horn and is a brown to my barred rock hen ( 8 weeks)? I may keep a rooster with her for another week or so???? I will be letting all 4 roosters go to a friend though. good breeds to mix???
