New Chicken Lady here 😁

Hi! Welcome to BYC! Good for you and your daughter building that coop, and setting up the lights and camera to catch the possums in the act and (hopefully) scare them off forever! So sorry about the lost chickens.

Be sure to look at Forums to see the threads. You can find other folks in your state by looking at Forum at the top of your screen, then choose "Where Am I/Where Are You?" and look for your state or the are you want to link up to. It's nice to find folks in your area! This is a great community, and we are glad you came!

Hello, Cynthia, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Sorry for your losses.
You have some more problems with your setup (and flock) than just the lack of being predator proof.
You have way too many cockerels for the number of pullets. I'd rehome 2 of them or all of the cockerels.
Your coop is severely lacking in ventilation and is too small for the number of birds you have. Please visit the Coop & Run Forum for requirements for proper chicken housing.
Good luck with your flock.
Thank you for your response. Yes I know I have to find homes for 2 of my roosters, haven't had any luck yet.
I let them all out to free range most every day until right before dark. I have ventilation on the front side and the opposite side (put in after this picture was taken) because there is too much wind on the side shown. I keep it very clean inside. I haven't had any respiratory illnesses yet or any sicknesses. I plan to make it larger when the weather warms up.
