Hi all- this is our first flock of 6 Isa Browns. We raised them from babies. They are bonded to my daughter and tolerate our 11 year old dachshund.
Unfortunately I found the website today when I was frantically searching for first aide information for one of my girls who got attacked by a fox. I’m looking forward to browsing when I’m not so stressed.

Chickens generally have good recuperative powers - as long as they don't go into shock or get infected wounds. It's good to flush the wounds with saline solution and then apply Neosporin (NO CAIN formula). Heat, increased swelling and redness can indicate infection. Puncture wounds often get infected - please post on the Emergencies thread in full detail, photos are very helpful as well.

Greetings and welcome to BYC from NE TX! So glad you joined us but sorry for the reason that brought you here. Hope your girl recovers from the attack. You'll be amazed at how much damage a bird can take and still survive. There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

Hope you enjoy the site!

G'Day from down under Kmackinney :frowWelcome!

I do hope that your girl makes a full recovery :fl

I also hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.
