Hello from Muncie, Indiana! This is my first year raising chickens. I have 4 White Leghorn hens I call The Tweetles. Their names are Regina Starr, Joan Lennon, Paulie McChicken and Georgina Harrison. They sing together a lot, but they don't sound like The Beatles at all.
I raised dogs for 20 years, and after my last one died, a friend brought me 4 chicks. I had no idea how to care for them, and this website has been a great resource.
The Tweetles are 8 months old now, and it has been so much fun watching them develop and start laying eggs. I'm continually amazed by how smart they are. I'm also constantly worried about their wellbeing and safety. I live in an urban area with a lot of stray cats, raccoons, opossums and hawks, and this will be their first winter, which drops to subzero temperatures in Indiana. I will have a lot of questions to post.

Welcome to BYC!
The most important thing to remember for winter housing is that they still need 1 square foot each of ventilation. Even when it is freezing.
As for as predators, keep in mind that chicken wire is useless. Hardware cloth is where it's at.
