Hello I'm new to this but I enjoying it. question what's the difference between a barred and a dominique?

barring has to do with feather "pattern". While a cuckoo pattern is similar the black and white barring is not even. With a Barred Rock the black and white almost look like stripes.

Dominique is a breed with the cuckoo pattern and a rose comb. I have two and I also have Cuckoo marans. Cuckoo being the feather pattern , maran being the breed. I also have Barred Rocks. With the three side by side you can see the difference.

from Ohio. So glad you joined. The Dominique head is more refined and has a rose comb while all of the BR have single combs. Also, the tail of the BR is considerably shorter than that of the Dominique.
