New Chicken lover!!!

Hi everyone!!!! Hope I am doing this right....I am pretty much new to the chicken scene, I have 2 barred rocks (about 12 weeks old) 1 Americana, 2 Rhode Island reds and a Mutt (all going on 3 weeks old....then my new babies, 4 White rocks. I am pretty much into chickens for egg production, but plan on using my White Rocks for dual purpose( sorry to those who don't) I have 2 young sons and I am just realizing how bad and inhumane the chicken we buy in the store are treated. We do eat chicken, and I want to provide my kids happy and healthy food to eat, not use and abused. This is the first time I have tried to raise chickens, and may have an issue with the eating part.... I am raising all my chicks with lots of love....I am sure I will get negative replies on the "dual purpose part" but I would rather know what I feed my family has been treated humanly and not crammed in a chicken house and fed things I wouldn't want my kids to eat. I appreciate all replies and help.
