I got 8 chicks back in March, I am beginning to get eggs.... SO EXCITING.
Although... I am not one who knows a ton about chickens, I do know I did not get the breeds I was supposed to get - in THEORY I have 2 Buff Orpington Hens, 2 Barnvelder Hens, a blue cochin, and 3 that my daughter picked from mixed chicks that I have no clue what they are... So far I have ID'd a polish (was a buff in theory) one barnvelder (which is NOT one of the 2 that I was told were barnvelders) and I am not 100% on ANY of the others.

I also have a BAD feeling I have at least a few roosters, which was really not what I wanted. I am going to share some pics and see if those of you with experience can help me!!!

Where would be the best place to do that??? (Sorry - really brand spankin new!)

Sorry that seems to happen all to often when buying birds. It's really a matter of BUYER BEWARE but very young chicks don't look much like any particular breed. The "store" or "hatchery" experts don't seem to know either.
