My kids have started calling me the chicken mama. We live in Central Texas and now have a flock of 18 birds, looks like 15 girls and 3 boys. So far so good here in Texas. We planned on having 6-9 hens and I just kept picking babies. Oops!!! ;0). My "kids" are 5 & 10 weeks old. Right now they are separated due to size difference but can see each other and spend time watching the other group closely. One of my boys keeps trying to hang with the big girls, until he is rebuffed with a peck and caught by my daughter or myself and returned to his pen.

Glad you could join the flock! I'm a Kim too :highfive: Sounds like you are having fun there with your chicks and that you have an adventurous boy there already!! Your not the only one setting out with good intentions on only getting so many chicks but then ending up with far more than you intended. They are so addicting it's not possible only to get a few. It sounds like you've already been bit by the 'chicken math' bug. It happens a lot, lol. Glad you are enjoying them. And congrats on your 'look but don't touch' integration with the younger birds, that's so much less stress on everyone when adding new birds.

Thank you everyone! Right now I'm having coffee with my girls. I forgot to add what we have 4-EE, 2-naked neck, 2 bantam, 2 polish, 3 gold sex link, 3-Dominique, 1-buff orp and 1- CA white. We wanted some Jersey Giants- maybe next year!
