Hello!

I just wanted to do a really quick intro since I've been finding tons of helpful stuff on your forum the past week.

I'm Sarah and I'm a new backyard chicken owner. About a month ago my 9-year-old daughter's class had eggs in an incubator. After the eggs hatched we adopted one (a Bovan White that I'm REALLY hoping is female

) and we also purchased a Rhode Island Red chick and a Bantam chick from a local farm store. My husband and I have thought of having chickens for years, so we are pretty excited. We live in town and are building a coop on the side of our large fenced in garden where the chickens will have access when we allow it and their own space when they need to stay out.

Hi Sarah and welcome to BYC,

The Learning Centre is a great resource, even for experienced chicken keepers - loads of info on anything chicken. https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Joining your state thread will put you in contact with other BYC members in your area, which can be very helpful.

The members here are amazing - very friendly and helpful, so if you need an answer to a question or simply want some reassurance that what you are doing is ok, then post away - we all help each other out here at BYC.

All the best
