Hi! I’m Katie from Camden, SC. I’m new to the raising of chickens.

Done a lot of research but still have questions and I thought what better place to find those answers is to be a part of the backyard chickens group.

We currently have 2 pullets. A Rhode Island Red named Millie and a Buff Orpington named Beatrice.

Yesterday I added to the bunch and purchased 3 chicks from a local small animal auction. The box said 2 are Copper Maran and Orpington crosses and the other is a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte. No names yet cause I’m not sure if they are male or female.

Anyways, I’m excited to be part of this group and ready to learn all I can from you experienced chicken parents.

Welcome to the site. I breed Blue Laced Red Wyandottes. Beautiful breed. Mild mannered.
Enjoy the site.

Are your Wyandotte roosters mild mannered also? Could possibly have one in the bunch I purchased yesterday.
I have had only one out of 10 that was aggressive upon maturity while the hormones were raging. It mellowed out eventually. All in all he stiil was a pussy cat compared to my other breeds. Don't worry!:hugs
Here is a young male of mine-
