Is that PCV for a roost bar? It looks incredibly slippery. Wood is the best medium for grip and holding in heat for the feet. Warm feet mean warm birds.

Here are some pictures of the coop. We have 3 windows but upon further review there is not ventilation up in the eaves. It’s closed off by 2x4 pieces and 1/4 in plywood. We will have to take the roof off to fix the ventilation issue. Do y’all agree?

I believe that the 4 roosting 2x4’s provided are too close together and do not have enough room for them to get up into. Is this an accurate assumption? I planned on taking the 2 middle pieces out for 2 reasons. Easier access for the hens but also for me if I have to train them to roost.

There is a heat lamp in the coop that I do not plan to use. I keep forgetting to bring plyers our to take it down.

We made a makeshift roost yesterday that sits about 6 inches off the ground. I am going to have the hubby make another one since there wasn’t much room. Maybe this can help train them to go up higher.

The PVC pipe inside the coop has nipples attached to it with pipe access on the outside of the coop. I don’t know how to use this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The PVC pipe has nipples so I think it’s how they were watered last winter. Not for certain though.

I will try my best to get a picture from the bottom later today. The hubby is out in the woods cutting down dead limbs.
