Hi from PA here. I just retired, moved to PA with some land and my hubby and I decided to get some chickens. Exciting and nervous at the same time. Here is the template to help.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

Yes, brand new. We got them at about a week old. They are now 16 weeks old.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

We have 4 pullets and I am thinking 1 rooster..lol. (I need someone to let me know if it is or not)

(3) What breeds do you have?

All Production Reds

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

They are therapeutic. Enjoy watching them grow. Can't wait to see the first egg!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

We have plenty of outside work, so I guess being outdoors. I also enjoy being with my family.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I have 3 grown boys, 3 grandchildren. I am retired. Living my best life here.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

Just reading so many helpful articles and resources. I am happy to be here. Thanks for all your suggestions and help!

Welcome!! I'm not the best at younger sexing (I've mostly worked with adult) finally joined to see what I had for early age guesses. I can agree that you definitely have a cockerel his comb and wattle stand out to the others. They're very pretty! I hope you have a good time. I agree that they are very calming. It's nice to go out and have a chat with my flock. This year is my first year raising my own and I went all out and had chicken math.. bad chicken math because I have ducks too.. :lau. I hope you enjoy the forums and find a lot of support and also find yourself supporting others.
