New Chicken Member

Hello, I'm Angel from Central Minnesota.

I got my first set of chickens off of eBay last winter. Then bought 26 RIR's and all were killed off by a silver fox, but 6. Being that I was just starting up and learning with chickens I have made much improvements and my chickens are safer now. I now currently have 6 Rhode Island Reds, one is my only Rooster. 4 Frizzled Cochin Bantams. 1 Ameraucana. 1 Cochin Bantam. Plus tons and tons of new baby chicks. My Chickens have their coops but travel the farm freely.


My Cochin Bantam, my son named her Hawk. She is a loner and is more afraid of other chickens, chases the cats, but loves humans and our lab dog Duke. She's about 10 weeks old. She was the only one that made it out of her clutch at the time, so received lots of our attention.

Raising chickens has become quite a fun and relaxing hobby. I have also a few Rouen and Call Ducks. Raising my animals has become quite a rewarding experience.

Hope she hangs around your dog as she gets older, he may just save her life when predators come calling.

Hi all!
We live in Columbia, MO and bought 12 Golden Comets March 17. We bought 12 because everyone said we would lose a few -- It's July now and we have 12 very healthy robust girls! I guess I will be selling eggs at work, at the mall, on the side of the road, at the local quick stop! Did I mention there are only two of us? Our daughter and her daughter live next door but they don't eat a lot of eggs-they will! away, we are really enjoying the girls and look forward to plenty of eggs! I will post photos here soon.
