Just got my coop delivered and picked up six 5 month old chickens today. Five of them are for sure female, the last one we aren't sure, so we might have a rooster too. Very new at this chicken thing so I don't know the lingo. Can't wait to learn! Well so far I can't get any of my chickens to come out into their run but I have patience and I know they will soon. We are on an acre of land with half of it wooded with a creek, so I hope they like bugs! I am a mother of 3 girls and a husband.... Nice to meet everyone!

Welcome to BYC, and congratulations on your new flock. Give them time. They are adjusting to their new home - chickens hate change.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Raising chickens is a wonderful experience for children. Our children and granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loved our chickens and made lap pets of the calmer and more gentle breeds. If you haven't done so already, definitely our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is loads of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.
