My name is Beverly and I’ve been thinking about having a backyard flock for a couple of years now. In March, I pulled the trigger and purchased 10 chicks at my local farm store. I have 4 Usa (sp?) Browns and 6 Amerucanas. 1 of the Amerucanas is a rooster. All of the Browns have started laying and 1 of the Amerucanas has given me 2 green eggs. They are caged for the most part but I do let them wander around in the morning while I’m changing water, giving food and cleaning up. Then I sit with them awhile and talk to them and they like it when I hold and pet them (except Rufus, he’s my rooster).
