Hi, I'm Sonia from NYC, I'm a mom to 2 cats, and new mom to seven female chicks, a Appenzeller Spitzhauben, a Buff Laced Polish, a Golden Laced Polish, a Buff Silkie, a Splash Silkie, a Black Silkie, and a tiny Porcelain D'Uccle, all hatched on July 1, except for the D'Uccle which hatched on July 9. I joined this site to learn about and get advice on how to care for chickens.

A note on the silkies, they do tend to go broody often (at least in my experiences). That basically means she’s gonna try to hatch out some chickies, regardless of if there is a rooster or not. Just know that she isn’t dying or having problems, it is normal!
