Aloha everyone! I moved to a new home in April just in time to stay home a lot! There are many chickens where I live and roosters! At first I did not pay much attention to them, then I noticed one particular hen followed me to the mailbox regularly. Then, she would show up every time I opened my kitchen door. I was intrigued. I have had dogs and cats but never any bird. I started feeding her left over bread, that led to buying crumble. She would eat from my hand, I fell in chicken love. Now she has her own coop with run, 9’ x 5’ that she shares with her remaining 2/11 babies. She only had 3 left by the time I got the coop set up. So- my dillema, she will not sleep in the coop. It has a ramp, I opened the side door. I then put a ground plastic litter container that is on its side, with ash flakes, but no, she sleeps on the ground. How do I get her to use the coop or box? The weather is changing and I worry for her. Mahalo for your time.
