Thank you for all the welcoming words! I am glad to have more chicken enthusiasts in my life :)

Does anyone have experience with the RIRs, Buff Orpingtons, or Welsummers? As in, when did yours start laying? Just wondering what to expect. I've also had a problem with my Welsummers wanting to sleep in the nest boxes and getting them all poopy...I was considering making some curtains to discourage this. Has anyone tried that?

My buff orps started around 5-8 months

That is a fairly wide range..guess I will just have to be patient! :) I do love the buffs as well...I have one gal named Butterscotch that loves to sit in my lap and always follows me around. She is so sweet!
