(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am very new to chickens. I got my first chicken a few weeks ago and it didn't make it through the night. At that point I read a book and did some research and built a little coop and got 3 new chickens from a farm and garden store.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
11- We went from it would be cool to have 2 hens for some eggs to 11 chickens.
(3) What breeds do you have? I have a white frizzle bantam feather footed roo and a feather footed bantam white hen named Mr. and Mrs. Frizzlepants. They are fussy and a little useless. I have 2 barred rock pullets, Trick and Treat, my 3 year old calls them zebra chickens. I have 2 Easter eggers. I got them at the flea market and was told that they are araucana's but I'm just calling them easter eggers for now, cause I'm not sure that they are araucana's. One of them has no feathers on it's neck. I call them Esther and Ingrid. I have one little orange pullet named Henrietta, I think she's a buff orpington. Not sure. I also have 4 little bitty golden buffs that my father in law picked up and dropped off. We have an old dog kennel attached to an old barn that we repurposed into a run and DH built a nice little coop for them.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
It was in the book Raising Chickens for Dummies
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? gardening, reading,
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I have 2 dogs Eddie Vedder a Rhodesian Ridgeback, Maggie, an Afghanistan rescue mutt, 1 kittie named Pinot, I have 2 wonderful little boys and I'm grad school for Social Work. The chickens are great for procrastinating on paperwriting.
