Our family of 6 has decided to get a flock of 6 to start!
We have a Rhode Island Red, Speckled Sussex, Barred Rock, Ameraucana, Gold Laced Wyandotte and a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte.

Here is our brooder. Note: I later moved the heat lamp much closer in the kennel.

We are super excited to get started on the coop soon. We are using our raised deck as part of it. So glad I thought of it because our yard isn't all that big. We've not found much as far as coops under a deck so I'll be taking lots of photos.

Hi and welcome to BYC - glad that you have decided to join us. Congrats on your new chicks - very exciting times I'm sure.

The Learning Centre is a great resource, even for experienced chicken keepers - loads of info on anything chicken. https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Joining your country / state thread will also put you in contact with other BYC members close to you.

The members here are amazing - very friendly and helpful, so if you need an answer to a question or simply want some reassurance that what you are doing is ok, then post away - we all help each other out here at BYC.

Good luck with the coop build and be sure to check out the Coop section for inspiration.

All the best

Looks like I need to add that when I went to pick up the red laces blue Wyandotte, I may have left with a Barnevelder as well. So 6 became 7 very quickly....that was originally supposed to be 5. Hahaha!!
