New chicken mommy--just in time for Mothers Day.

My name is Andrea, or brunettesimgirl as my username and I am a first time chicken owner in Washington State. We just purchased 6 chicks yesterday:

2 speckled sussex
2 giant silver laced cochin
2 new hampshire red chick


They are living comfortably in our basement in their brooder while we work hard to get the barn ready for them to be moved into in 4-5 weeks (needs cleaning badly--hasn't been used in years!). A little nervous since I've never had chickens before (but have always wanted them)--SO grew up on farm and has had chickens before so he knows a bit more than I do...

Glad I found this site...will be here a lot I think.
