(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
  • I am new to chickens and i got my first pullets August 2nd. from the local feed store and I am already obsessed.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

  • Right now I have 5 Chickens. I started with 4 pullets from the feed store on August 2nd. We just introduced our first cockerel to the flock on October 14th.

(3) What breeds do you have?

  • My pullets are all Isa browns. My cockerel is a blue laced red wyandotte who we just got from a local breeder. Our handsome man is around 4 months old we were told. Our hens are 10 weeks old.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

  • I found this site through some google researching I was doing prior to getting chickens.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
  • My other hobbies include sewing and other crafting, painting, landscaping, and shopping.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

  • I am married and I have 2 toddlers (1 &3). We have our 5 chickens, 2 cats, 1 puppy (black lab). I am a full time student in college working towards my teaching degree. I hope to teach middle and high school English lit education. We love having chickens and are already planning to expand to 20 chickens in the near future or more. We eventually want to grow our small farm to have goats and who knows what else later on. We have a 19 acre farm in the country. We havent been living here on the farm long so alot of work still needs to go into it but we love projects!

:welcome

With animals around (and a farm), it seems there is always some project that needs to be done, lol. Best of luck to you with all your plans!

G’Day from down under Chicken_Mommy :frow Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

Personally, I have found the Topic of the Week articles a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
