Hubby and I just got a silkie hen Friday that was laying. We moved her to the quarantine pen and have not seen an egg yet. Is this normal? Is she just stressed out?

Yeah, thats really common. I got a new EE and it took a week and a half for her to start laying. Just keep up good feeding practices, and she'll relax and start laying soon. Dont give up on her for at least 30 days, it sometimes takes that long. (it doesnt usually take that long, but its not totally unheard of)

Congrtas on your new hen!

I keep telling my hubby that we need to keep the hens on a schedule........... I let them out AFTER the egg is in the nest. NOt to stop the rooster's crowing. I bought layer mash - to help stimulate the egg production, since things have been so jumbled in our lives with the coon attack, the roo wandering off & the new hen's arrival. My original hen must be hiding her eggs very well! we haven't found one in 3 days.
