Hello! I am a new chicken mama and found this forum! What a great fountain of information! I have 7 chix I got from tractor supply.. 2 light Brahman, 2 road island reds (which were sold to me as buff orpingtons) ( I didn't know any better at the time), 2 barred rock and one blue rock... they are all fun and full of life at 4 1/2 weeks old.. I look forward to getting to know more chicken owners and learning more about my new babies..

Welcome I think we've all had some surprises from farm store purchases. Good new is you Rhode Island Reds are a great "not as broody" breed . Broody is when they go hormonal and are determined to lay on all eggs for weeks.
