New chicken owner here!

Thank you everybody!! I really appreciate it. I posted my first question in a forum but will post it here too.. is this mites/lice or nothing to worry about? It’s in the vent area of some of my chickens. I don’t see any little bugs anywhere tho.

I agree with @Debbie292d this looks like plucking, another bird is pulling out her feathers. Does she roost higher than another bird so that the bird below might be plucking her feathers out?

Hi, so sorry about your grandfather, I hope his flock brings you many years of entertainment. Your coop does look small for the size flock you have, what are the dimensions?

Not sure of my exact dimensions but it's all my husband will let me have. I feel bad but I let them out when I can!

That's great if you could let them out for a few hours each day. Even every late afternoon if possible as they'd go back by themselves at dusk as I presume you already knew. That alone would help with a bit of overcrowding.

That’s exactly what I do in the late afternoon! I let them out and they go back when it’s too dark. It’s not hours long but it’s something. I will try to do that more on a regular basis.
