new chicken owner needs advice

...ok so i bought male and female silkie..we saw them going it last week and now she layed 4 eggs...we have had the pair since thanksgiving we purchased them as adults....no eggs until now..we left the eggs where they were for 2 days..she went about normal business...and did not sit on them ..so i took them out & put the eggs in the fridge...she went looking for the eggs...when she did not find them ..she layed another egg...whats going on? can we eat the eggs or not? please help....thanxs

yes you can eat the eggs .just collect themj ever day.if she wants to sit she will stay on the nest and get cranky

I chicken will normally lay more than 4 eggs before going broody. Although with silkies you never know. Depending on what the temp is in your coop, the eggs are probably safe to eat. If it was me tho, I would toss them & start collecting the eggs every day if you plan on consuming them.
